Vote Delyth Jewell as
Plaid Cymru's #1 candidate for
Blaenau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni
My vision
I am asking for your support as your Number 1 candidate for Blaenau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni, to allow me to continue with the work I’ve started in this role. This seat will be pivotal to Plaid Cymru’s success in the upcoming election. As your Number 1 candidate for this seat, I would pour all of my energy, ideas and enthusiasm into ensuring we elect at least 2 Members of the Senedd from this area to represent our communities in our national parliament. And of course, gaining those 2 seats in Blaenau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni will be essential in ensuring Plaid Cymru is leading the government after the next election.

This is an area which has been central to my life. Like so many of you, I am so proud of being from the south Wales valleys: it is an area with a defiant history of communities coming together in the face of bitter injustices. The struggles of today demand that same spirit of strength and togetherness because I want our valleys to be facing a future that’s just as inspiring as our past. We owe it to our communities today and in the future to fight for our valleys.

From fighting for former miners’ pensions, to campaigning against the closure of libraries and Llancaiach Fawr, I have championed the causes of our communities over the past six years. Being from the south Wales valleys is a cornerstone of my identity. I regard it with a fierce pride, and believe fervently that this area can be a powerhouse of innovation and industry once again, when Wales takes its rightful place on the world stage. If you share my vision for a fairer, more prosperous Wales with our communities are at its heart, then please join me in this campaign and vote for me as your #1 choice in Blaenau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni.

About me
I am so proud to be from the Rhymney Valley. I was born in Caerphilly Miners’ Hospital, grew up in Ystrad Mynach, and went to school in Bargoed (attending Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni). After leaving school, I studied at the University of Oxford, before going to work as a researcher and speechwriter for the Plaid Cymru group of MPs in Westminster. In 2014, I was named the Dods Researcher of the Year in Westminster for my work on campaigns relating to stalking and coercive control, which helped pave the way for new legislation in those fields. In 2015, I moved back to Wales, first working for Citizens Advice, and later Action Aid.
In 2019, I entered the Senedd, following the death of my friend Steffan Lewis. Throughout my time in this role, I have endeavoured in some sense to “share” my seat with Steffan, and to carry on with campaigns and work which he started.
